The Winter Recreation Area at Elm Creek Park Reserve features a lighted tubing hill with lifts and snowmaking, a beginner-level downhill ski and snowboard hill, and almost 18 km of cross-country ski trails.
After the action, winter sports enthusiasts can warm their toes and grab a hot cocoa at the Chalet. A blend of modern and rustic, the Chalet provides equipment rental, concessions, public seating and a fireplace. In the summer, hikers, bikers and others use the Chalet as a stopping point before hitting the trails. The Chalet is also a popular spot for weddings and corporate events.
Winter Rec Area Update as of Dec. 9
The Winter Recreation Area at Elm Creek will be in full operation beginning Saturday, December 14.
Activity Passes
Downhill ski and snowboard season passes can be purchased at the Elm Creek Chalet from 9 AM-5 PM. Purchase a season pass and receive great benefits at sister ski areas!

“Cheeeeeese,”
swoons Wallace, a Claymation character from the adorably quirky British
stop-motion films. I love the hilarious shenanigans of “Wallace &
Gromit.” I also share Wallace’s affection for cheese.
I’ve never met a cheese I didn’t like. Cheese on crackers. Cheese with fruit. Cheese with wine. Serve cheese, any cheese and I’m happy. But I especially love quality cheeses served this time of year at cocktail parties and holiday celebrations.
If you’re planning such an occasion, Dorothy Neubauer cheese specialist at Byerly’s in Chanhassen offers a variety of scrumptious suggestions to add variety and flair to your holiday cheese plates.
